We just heard the tragic news that the roof of the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa was on fire.

Extend of the damage is not yet known but we all feel deeply saddened and we would like to show our sympathy and stand with the people of Tibet and all Buddhists who respect the Jokhang as the temple that houses the most precious Buddha Statue in Tibet.
As Buddhist or sympathizer to Buddhist culture, many of us feel that this would be a great opportunity to make some offerings towards repair of the damage done by the fire. Amount of the money that we are able to collect may be just a drop in the ocean compared to what the government from Beijing would offer. However, it is a Buddhist aspiration and a way of showing that those of you living inside Tibet are very much in our thoughts and we always remember the Buddha in Jokhang Temple in our prayers. We also know that Tibetan Buddhists believe that the First Month of the Tibetan New Year is the month when every mantra we chant and any amount of money we offer would be multiplied by hundred thousand times.
Tibet Foundation has set up a Jokhang Temple Fund. Would you please join me in contributing whatever you can to the Fund and sharing this appeal with your friends. Thank you.
