Results of the Tibet Foundation Essay Contest 2005

The Tibet Foundation UK recently conducted an essay contest among the Tibetan refugees living in the Indian sub-continent as part of an event to celebrate the Foundation's 20th Anniversary, 1985-2005.

 

The contestants were asked to write on the subject - "TIBETAN"

Who is "Tibetan"? What makes a person "Tibetan" or a culture "Tibetan"?

 

The Tibet Foundation received a total number of 105 essay submissions from over 20 different Tibetan learning institutions including Drepung Gomang Monastery, Sera Jey Monastery, Norbulingka Institute, Tibetan Medical & Astrological Institute (TMAI), Sarah College for Higher Tibetan Studies in Dharamsala and Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Varanasi.

 

School children from SOS Tibetan Homes Foundation (Mussoorie), SOS Tibetan Children's Village (Dharamsala), Tibetan Transit School, Central School for Tibetans (Sonada, Dolanji, Chauntra and Ponta Sahib) have also submitted over 70 essays.

 

Of the 105 qualifying essay submissions, 69 entrants have written in Tibetan language and 36 in English.

 

The Tibet Foundation would like to acknowledge the efforts put by all the participants in this essay contest and wishes to express its heartfelt congratulations to the prize winners below:
