A special month long teaching by His Holiness Sakya Trizin, Head of Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism

This special teaching by His Holiness Sakya Trizin will be hosted in Bournemouth, Dorset, UK by Sakya Thubten Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre (Bournemouth) in association with Tibet Foundation (London) and Sakya Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre (Reading).

Lamdre (meaning: the Path including its result) is the highest teaching and practice of the Sakya Tradition, originating from the great Indian Mahasiddha, Virupa. Lamdre contains teachings and practices covering the whole range of sutra and tantra teachings given by Buddha, but its main teachings are based on the Hevajra Tantra.

The essence of this teaching is the inseparability of worldly existence (Samsara) and enlightenment. It follows that Nirvana is merely a transformation of Samsara. There is no abandoning of Samsara in order to achieve enlightenment. Realising this inseparability is the key to attaining enlightenment.

It is said that the Lamdre is the complete path to enlightenment, and is divided into two parts: the preliminary part and the main part.

The preliminary part contains the instructions and teachings on sutras of Buddha and focuses on the three visions: impure vision, the vision of experience and the pure vision. The main part is esoteric or tantric teachings.

For more than four decades, His Holiness has bestowed these precious Teachings many times all over the world in numerous countries. His command of English is superb and this will be the first time He bestows the Lamdre in the UK.
