Aid to Tibet Projects - Education

The most common reason young Tibetans give for leaving Tibet and crossing the Himalayas to India, is to get an education.

Though children throughout China are entitled to six-years of education, implementation in Tibet is very slow compared with urban China. The result is young Tibetans are increasingly undereducated when compared with their Han Chinese contemporaries.

Aid to Tibet is working to make schools and the curriculum more accessible and more relevant to Tibetan children.
