Tibet Foundation - Aid to Tibet Projects
Aid to Tibet works with local Tibetans in the fields of Education , Health and Development .
Education.

The most common reason young Tibetans give for leaving Tibet and crossing the Himalayas to India, is to get an education. Though children throughout China are entitled to six-years of education, implementation in Tibet is very slow compared with urban China.
The result is young Tibetans are increasingly undereducated when compared with their Han Chinese contemporaries.
Aid to Tibet is working to make schools and the curriculum more accessible and more relevant to Tibetan children.
Health.

Social and Environmental factors combine to make Tibet one of the worst served regions of Asia for healthcare. Where medical treatments are available, few families are able to afford them. Quality of treatments is often poor - clinics are under-equipped, and medicines old.
The Tibetan Autonomous Region has the lowest UN Human Development Index of any region of China. Tibetans have the lowest life expectancy of any nationality of China.
Aid to Tibet is working to support the re-establishment of Tibetan medicine - the medical system best suited to the Tibetan environment - to Tibet.
Development.

The high plateau of Tibet is one of the world's last great wildernesses. The vast nomadic grasslands and high mountains give Tibet its unique character, but few opportunities to increase their wealth, and improve their standard of living.
Aid to Tibet is developing ways to help Tibetan people benefit further from their environment. From providing Yaks to old-people's homes, to micro hydroelectric power stations, Aid to Tibet's development scheme is committed to helping Tibetans while protecting the environment.
