Tibet Foundation - Art and Culture - Tibetan Doctor Conditions of Consultation

At the request of an increasing number of supporters, Tibet Foundation now invites respected Tibetan doctors from India three times a year to give consultations and lectures. This involves a lot of expense and effort by the Foundation, and we ask your co-operation to ensure the doctors' visits are as effective as they can be.

Consultations

Consultations are by prior appointment only, and booked as quarter-hour periods. Obviously some consultations will over-run, whereas others will finish more quickly.

To book, please telephone the Foundation during office hours (10-6, Monday - Friday). We require pre-payment to confirm booking because of high demand for the Doctor's time in the UK.

If you have to cancel please inform the Tibet Foundation as early as possible. Tibet Foundation will endeavour to reschedule appointments where adequate notice is given, but can make no guarantees about this.

The Foundation does not take any responsibility for any cancellation caused by circumstances beyond its control.

The Foundation reserves the right to accept or refuse appointments without providing reasons, or to cancel appointments if necessary. Consultation fees will be refunded in such cases.

Tibetan Medicine and Tibetan Doctors

Tibet Foundation guarantees that the herbal medicine prescribed by the Foundation doctors are prepared according to the traditional Tibetan medical formula and processes, and that the doctors concerned are fully qualified from the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute in Dharamsala.
So far, this is the only Institute that gives training in Tibetan medicine in exile. The doctors invited to the UK have over 20 years experience of practice both in India and the West.

Medical Instructions

Please ensure that you understand from the doctor precisely when and how to take the medicine. When the doctor is not available in London, the Foundation is unable to give advice of this nature.

Reordering of Herbal Medicine

The Foundation does not store medicine in London. It accepts medicine re-orders provided you have previously consulted a doctor through Tibet Foundation and we have your medical record.

Because medicines are sent from India, you must re-order 3 weeks before you need replacement medicine.

To reorder, telephone the Foundation during office hours, and we will inform you of the cost of the prescription, and will then re-order your medicine. Please send your cheque(s) payable to "Tibet Foundation" to the Foundation for the prescription. We are unable to despatch your medicine to you until we have received your payment.
