About Tibet Foundation

The Tibet Foundation was established in 1985 with the aims of providing healthcare, education and social economic support for people of Tibetan origin, both those living in exile, and those living in Tibet itself. It provides facilities to create a greater awareness of Tibetan culture and works to ensure its preservation, also to make available the thoughts and ideas of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, spreading his message of peace and harmony.

A quarterly newsletter is published giving information on Tibetan Culture and News updates on the work of the Foundation. The Tibet Foundation is funded solely by donations, and staffed mainly by volunteers.

Tibet Foundation aims:

  • To make widely available the works and thoughts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and to spread His message of peace and harmony
  • To further the understanding of Tibetan Buddhism and culture, and to work towards their continuity and preservation
  • To help in the provision of a decent standard of education and healthcare for Tibetans, and to relieve  poverty amongst Tibetans in exile and in Tibet
